These new stools from artist Tsuyoshi Hayashi are an incredible display of how art and design can truly be used to better the environment.
Made from roof tiles that would have otherwise been discarded and forgotten, the seats are durable and eco-friendly with a sleek modern design. The curved roof tiles, called kawara, come from Takahama, Japan and are often damaged during production which amount to more than 65,000 tiles being discarded each year. Tsuyoshi Hayashi fixes these damages by cutting them off or chipping them away. Since the seats are made from tiles used for roofing, they are incredibly durable and can be used in all types of weather.
Tsuyoshi Hayashi has created seating for the modern world with the environment in mind. I don't know what could be better!
