VR Tsunami Videos

The Virtual Reality Tsunami Simulation Aims to Improve Disaster Preparedness

This virtual tsunami simulation allows people to experience what it might be like to be in a climate catastrophe. Developed by Aichi University of Technology in Japan, the VR simulator videos are intended to help people prepare for disasters. The three immersive videos can be used with Gear VR, Google Cardboard or Oculus Rift.

Each of the tsunami simulation videos put the viewer in a different position. This includes being stuck in a car surrounded by water and other floating automobiles as well as having water rise around you in a flood. Sound effects and 360 video enhance the feeling and intensity. This is supposed to prevent people from panicking should they find themselves in a similar situation in real life.
