Crime Series Parodies

Todd Spence Creates an Awesome True Detective Mashup

Artist Todd Spence has created a True Detective mashup that humorously lampoons the popular HBO mini-series.

Using the actual covers of Hardy Boys books, Todd Spence photoshops the heads of both Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson–who both play the main characters of the gritty crime drama–onto the bodies of Frank and Joe Hardy. Spence expertly matches Mcconaughey's and Harrelson's heads to the art style of the classic book series, and creates titles that are written in the font of the book but reference mysteries from the show, helping to make this Hardy Boys/True Detective mashup look truly authentic.

The very distinct tone of the child friendly Hardy Boys books combined with the brutal and often disturbing tones found in True Detective helps this parody to soar to incredible heights of hilarity.
