Apple Will Enable Older Generations of iPads to Access a Trackpad

Apple has indicated that it will be adding trackpad support to previous generations of the iPad. Trackpad support will come through the iOS 13.4 software update schedule for March 24th. The trackpad will operate similarly to the accessibility feature for iPad OS, which was made available this previous fall.

The new trackpad feature will also have a number of shortcuts for people to use including quick access to the control center, multitasking option, and more. Additionally, it will be completely integrated with all of Apple's native apps, however, support for third-party apps will be up to each individual developer.

With the new update, trackpads will be compatible with the iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 4, and all more recent versions of the tablet.
