Mattia Casalegno's 'The Open' is an Odd Sensory Installation

If you ever wondered what it would be like to have a slab of grassy soil pressed against your face, 'The Open' is just what you have been waiting for. An odd mask, it secures to your head for a unique sensory experience. Of course, you could just lay down on a fresh patch of earth in the summer.

Put together by Mattia Casalegno, 'The Open' also feeds the sound of your breath into headphones. By obscuring the wearer's vision, it plays up both olfactory and auditory senses. According to Casalegno, 'The Open' "plays with the Deleuzian notion of 'ritornell' (refrain), and about the quality of sound to define a territory."
