'The Last Laugh' is an Impressive, Yet Illegal Fan Film

Spanning 15 long, tense minutes, 'The Last Laugh' is a fan's homage to the Dark Knight and the comic book writers who penned his legendary exploits.

As macabre as Chris Nolan's feature-length Batman flicks and considerably more violent, The Last Laugh pits the caped crusader against his two most infamous enemies: The Joker and Penguin. ENSO Productions, the team behind the 15-minute short, were sure to include bloody stand-offs, stunts and choreographed fight scenes throughout; the result is impressive.

You might be thinking, aren't those copyrighted characters? Indeed they are; however, as film studios begin to realize that these independent projects do little to divert funds away from the studio, they've become more willing to ignore them. If anything, The Last Laugh helps promote the Batman's popularity -- it's a tremendous run-up to the release of Nolan's upcoming movie 'The Dark Knight Rising.'
