Lithuanian designer Ingrida Kazenaite designed the fabric pen to mend old garments by printing over wears and tears. The device, which slightly resembles a wand, is intended to increase the lifespan of your typical garment, avoiding the need to throw things out on a routine basis.
Kazenaite explains, "For most of us sewing and taking care of our fabrics is not a pleasurable activity. [The] Fabric Pen concept is meant to take care of all that for you while letting you express yourself through the process of creation of your clothes."
The pen scans the fabric, evaluating its color and texture. On the other end, the pen sprays matching fibers onto the garment. Kazenaite envisions it being used to repair runs in nylon tights, or on clothes made from cotton and polyester.
