Amphibious SUV World Crossings

The Amphibear is Set to Travel 37,000 Miles in Nine Months

Estonian adventurer Mait Nilson has turned a Toyota Land Cruiser into the Amphibear. The Amphibear is an amphibious vehicle that Nilson is planning on taking around the world. It looks like a catamaran when in the water and is designed to safely cross both rivers and seas. When on land, the Amphibear can hit speeds of 69 mph.

Nilson recently began his trek around the world, a journey he expects to last over nine months and cover some 37,000 miles, which includes a crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. The aquatic portion of the trip is likely to be the most dangerous, but Nilson says the Amphibear can cover 120 nautical miles per day under ideal conditions and that it has little difficulty staying upright when the winds begin to whip.
