Inwit Minimizes Waste with NFC-Equipped Containers

One meal at a time, Toronto-based Inwit is making takeout apps more sustainable with a zero-waste model. This zero-waste takeout app supplies reusable stainless steel containers and they are equipped with NFC tags for the purpose of verifying when containers are borrowed, then returned. Inwit says, "When you return a borrowed container to any participating restaurant location, it will be scanned back into our system and your account will be updated within 24 hours."

Currently, this service is only available to customers who pick up their order in person, although Inwit sees the potential to explore sustainable and fair delivery in the future. In Toronto, customers can enjoy meals from participating restaurants like Mugi, The Ace and Café Tibet, all the while reducing their household waste.
