'Sunscapes' Captures the Essence of Californian Summers

'Sunscapes' is a photo series by California-based photographer Caroline Cuse. In celebration of summer's end, Cuse created the collection as a tribute to the season she wishes would never come to a close.

As a college student, Cuse studied in the Northeast and got sad every time winter rolled around. She began to miss her Californian home and longed for sandy beaches, palm trees and sunny days. Cuse acknowledges that she gained a newfound appreciation for summer once she was away from home.

Not long after returning home, Cuse began experimenting with Cyanotypes, a scientific process that places transparency over an image and exposing it to the sun. Cuse soon perfected the method which resulted in blue and silvery hued compositions. Sunscapes is a personal collection that fuses together Cuse's love for the summer and her unique photography technique.
