Stephanie Noritz Captures the Joy of Recreational Sports

Canadian-born, New York-based photographer Stephanie Noritz focuses on high school subjects for her latest sports photography series.

Noritz has cultivated an impressive portfolio since moving to New York, freelancing for the likes of Dazed and Confused, New York Magazine and Monocle. Her work is characterized by its youthful subject matter -- and all the scrapes and bruises that comes with youthful arrogance. For this current project, Noritz traveled to a high school in Brooklyn, capturing the school's baseball and football teams as they practiced. Rather than motion, Noritz aimed to chronicle the moments of stillness.

Nortiz was captivated by the "physicaity and camaraderie between the boys," likening their practices to almost militaristic in their work ethic and function.
