The two lamps that make up the Species of Illumination collection look like they walked straight off of a Pixar movie set. Named Darwin and Wallace, they certainly act as though they belong in such a film. Both lamps respond to different stimulus so that it looks as though they are autonomous creatures. While Wallace seeks the darkest part of a room to light up, Darwin seeks movement as a reference.
Created by Netherlands-based UX designer Bob de Graaf for the Eindhoven's 2013 Graduation Show, Species of Illumination could essentially be considered pets. The designer reveals, "I am a big fan of Wall-E, I think Pixar did a really great job in showing how a robot can be adorable."
