Belgian furniture manufacturer Heerenhuis launches a solid wooden table during Paris Design Week that is strongly informed by the aesthetic of the Brutalist movement in the early 50s. Dubbed the 'Kombinat,' the design features polished solid Ayous wood and spans a length of six meters.
Heerenhuis' solid wood table avidly communicates the values of the architectural movement it references. The design of the piece has no strong detail embellishments but is purely represented in a raw form that openly exposes it. Intended to communicate "strength and functionality" by way of an unforgiving composition, the brutalist solid wood table is eye-catching and boldly minimalist.
The Kombinat piece also marks the first time Heerenhuis has used a thermowood technique as part of its manufact6uring process.
