Upside Down Smile Ads

The Snickers 2014 Campaign Shows People a Consequence of Hunger

At first, the models starring in the Snickers 2014 ad campaign simply look as though they were placed upside down to show how out of sorts they will when hungry. It does read, "You're not you when you're hungry," after all. Doing so, the Snickers 2014 ad campaign also appears to literally turn a frown upside down. That is, until a person realizes that the smile itself has been flipped for a more surreal effect.

Conceived and executed by FHV BBDO, an ad agency based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the Snickers 2014 ad campaign was art directed John De Vries with creative direction by Mark Muller and Martin Cornelissen. The quirky portraits, which fit the fun brand perfectly, were shot in studio by photographer Oli Kellett.
