Winter-Ready Spherical Homes

These Skydome Homes Can Withstand Over 1,500 Pounds of Snow

Russian Company Skydome has created a series of dwellings that offer Moscow residents a less expensive, yet quality-built alternative home. Each model follows a spherical structure and varies in size from 34 square meters to 300 square meters. Each of the six different models are similar in style, but more importantly, are built to withstand the harsh Russian winters, and are able to hold up to 1,500 pounds of snow safely.

The dome design and wooden walls also allow the homes to be more energy efficient, and ensure lower heat costs compared to typical houses. The open concept also allows for countless interior design possibilities, allowing homeowners to customize the interior of each home. Because the units don't have any load-bearing walls, homeowners can choose to close of certain areas, or leave the entire space completely open.
