Sinagua Malt Has Saved 425 Million Gallons of Water with Its Efficient Crop

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. has launched a pale ale named 'This Beer Saves Water,' which earned its name through the company's use of barley from 'Sinagua Malt.' Sinagua Malt offers a barley crop that can be grown year-round which means less water needs to be diverted from natural supplies during low streamflow periods. Whereas typical farmers have different summer and winter crops, Sinagua Malt partners with local farmers to offer them a profitable, sustainable crop. Since Sinagua Malt's widespread popularity in 2019, the company has saved nearly 425 million gallons of water.

This Beer Saves Water is also made with Sabro and Zappa hops, which are both water-efficient and drought-resistant crops on their own. It is estimated that each can of This Beer Saves Water offsets more than 50 gallons of water for Arizona, making it one of the most sustainable beers available in the United States.
