The Cardboard Bridge in Southern France is a gravity-defying structure built by Shigeru Ban that does the seemingly impossible.
Built almost entirely from cardboard tubes, the bridge can hold up to 20 people safely. At its base, the bridge is supported by wooden boxes full of sand, but the really heavy lifting is done by the surprisingly resilient tubes that Shigeru Ban has arranged with careful precision. The bridge is slated to be open to the public for six weeks before it will be dismantled in preparation for southern France's rainy season.
