The Distrito C office complex in Madrid was specially designed by Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz to keep 40,000 employees of Spain's largest company, Telefonica, cool in conditions of extreme heat.
The twelve identical office buildings that make up the enormous complex have been fit with hyper insulating vacuum glass and unique sun visors to help reflect Madrid's hot sun, making for an unusual and uniform appearance.
Telefonica also boasts the world's largest rooftop photovoltaic installation with 15,300 solar panels. This project is a modern accomplishment in cool architecture.
