TPSea from Sway is Suited for Replacing Flexible Plastics

The Sway TPSea thermoplastic seaweed resin packaging is a new creation from the California-based clean-tech startup that could help immensely with the shift away from plastic in everyday packaging. The material is characterized by its 100% biobased profile that's microplastic-free and also suitable for being composted at home thanks to its seaweed-made composition. The material is positioned by the company as a new category of biopolymer resin that could be used across retail bags, food wrappers and more.

CEO and Co-Founder Julia Marsh spoke on the Sway TPSea thermoplastic seaweed resin packaging saying, "Clean oceans, abundant biodiversity and thriving coastal economies all intertwine with Sway’s success as we accelerate production in 2024. We believe everyday materials should help to replenish the planet from sea to soil. The launch of our thermoplastic seaweed materials, along with an influx of new capital targeted at scaling production, signifies tangible progress toward a more circular future."
