Because robots aren’t freaky enough, Japanese researchers have created a robot that can make 36 different human expressions. The robot, named Kansei, makes a frightened face when he sees the word ‘bomb’ and he a happy face when he sees the word ‘sushi’.
Kansei was developed at Meiji University’s School of Science and Technology. He can recognize 500,000 keywords and he has an emotion lined up for each one.
The project leader, professor Junichi Takeno, noted, "What we are trying to do here is to create a flow of consciousness in robots so that they can make the relevant facial expressions."
