Robert Weingarten's 6:30 AM Series was put together over the course of an entire year. It was throughout this year that Weingarten took an image each morning at 6:30 am of Santa Monica Bay, capturing the sun as it rose on the daily.
Weingarten kept many elements in tact during the year. The images were taken from the same spot and lens, never tampered with. While shutter speeds were adjusted, the process remained mostly the same as the project unraveled.
Interestingly, while these practices remained unbroken, the pictures taken are quite different from one another. Each month reveals shading and configurations that are unique to the pictures, some featuring large pink clouds and others smouldering red tones.
