Balloon Artist Rie Hosokai Plays with Another Youthful Material

Japanese balloon artist Rie Hosokai of Daisy Balloon is at it again with her unorthodox wedding dresses. Instead of working solely with balloons like the last time, she has decided to expand to another equally playful material: LEGOs. Interestingly, Rie Hosokai has created the exact same dress in both building blocks and balloons.

Taking on a more traditional silhouette then her previous designs, Rie Hosokai's bridal gowns are fit for a fairy tale princess. Complete with puffed up shoulders and a ball gown silhouette, the dresses are dreamy and whimsical.

Rie Hosokai created the dresses for Tokyo’s "Piece of Peace" world heritage exhibit. She writes about the construction, "There is fear in that we are all different from one another, but that is also the gateway to self-consciousness."
