Studio Dlux Designs the Red House School Villa-Lobos

The Red House School Villa-Lobos is an international school, located in one of São Paulo's affluent neighborhoods, Vila Leopoldina. Brazil-based design practice Studio Dlux was tasked with creating atmospheric interiors for the institution. The firm is known for its playful use of color and sculptural motifs.

Red House School Villa-Lobos welcomes children in kindergarten through high school. The curriculum focuses on "developing socio-emotional skills and a global mindset." Hence, building an engaging space that promotes interaction was key for the interior. In order to achieve this, Studio Dlux embraced whimsical design sensibilities—from gabled forms and circular cutouts to playful interventions of color in the chairs, wall panels, and other areas. The local practice designs everything, including areas for sport and an outdoor athletic track, as well as the library, classrooms, music rooms, and more.
