The Realistic Pokemon Created by Arvalis Resemble Dinosaurs

Pokemon characters will never look like the affable and delightful creatures they once were in our childhoods after RJ Palmer, or Arvalis, recreated them by harking back to the prehistoric era to make them look like realistic Pokemon characters. By combining the original Pokemon characters with an interpretation of how they would have looked like had they existed at a time when dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts roamed the Earth, the California-based artist and illustrator is able to draw out a frightfulness about these creatures that once only existed in our imaginations -- and GameBoys.

The result, like a Venusaur that looks like a terrifying Triceratops, or a Mewtwo that resembles an other-worldly composite of an Avatar-like figure and some type of feline, has earned Arvalis a fair few admirers. He is currently selling a book, titled 'Realistic Pokemon-Volume One' for $49.99, which features 18 of his first illustrations, including concept sketches.
