By combining the original Pokemon characters with an interpretation of how they would have looked like had they existed at a time when dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts roamed the Earth, the California-based artist and illustrator is able to draw out a frightfulness about these creatures that once only existed in our imaginations -- and GameBoys.
The result, like a Venusaur that looks like a terrifying Triceratops, or a Mewtwo that resembles an other-worldly composite of an Avatar-like figure and some type of feline, has earned Arvalis a fair few admirers. He is currently selling a book, titled 'Realistic Pokemon-Volume One' for $49.99, which features 18 of his first illustrations, including concept sketches.
