Many rallies have described themselves as rough but the Mongol Rally can certainly say it is a rough rally.
There isn't an abundance of rules either; you start at one end and make your way to the finish however you wish. Seems simple enough right? Wrong it covers some of the harshest and most treacherous terrain in the world.
The adventurer's say "It's about getting out into the world and discovering it for yourself, so we resolutely refuse to give you a route or detailed information about what to expect." This should mark out clearly the ethos behind the Mongol rally and those who participate. Furthermore it is all for a good cause and money raised goes to charity.
One limitation is that the engine size must be below 1 liter. The idea is to keep it simple as at the heart of the rally is all about a good cause. So if you think your tough enough why not give the Mongol Rally 2012 a go!
