Chicago's Centennial Celebration Mascot Looks Like a Snail

For the city of Chicago’s centennial birthday celebrations, money was no object. They went all out and wound up with what essentially looks like an enormous rainbow slug in the middle of Millennium Park.

Don’t let the multi-colored grub fool you, though; it is more than just a treat for the eyes, as the inner belly of the rainbow slug is a rather large movie screen that plays Thomas Gray’s video exploring the city’s past and future on repeat.

Apparently, the design is meant to merge new concepts with the old, bold, historic architecture…uh-yeah, whatever, I still think it looks like an enormous rainbow slug.
