Durable Flatpack Tables

The Flatpack Programmable Table Can Be Easily Pulled Into Shape

The Flatpack Programmable Table is the result of a collaboration between the MIT Self Assembly Lab and Milan-based design firm Wood-Skin. The whole point of this table is to make it easier and cheaper to manufacture and transport furniture. This prototype table can be moved from flatpack state to furniture and back with just a quick tug.

This Programmable Table can be switched from flatpack to a proper table just by pulling it into shape, and can go back to flatpack state easily as well. The small table looks lightweight but is strong enough for an adult to stand on.

While the table is an impressive piece of furniture on its own, it is hoped that this sort of flatpack technology can be used in even bigger pieces of furniture.
