Mystical Coffee Tables

Prehistoric Aliens by Glimpt is Inspired by the Culture of Peru

In spite of its name, the coffee tables making up the collection Prehistoric Aliens by Glimpt, a studio founded by Swedish design duo Matthias Rask and Tor Palm, looks like a few oddly shaped dragon eggs, the kind that would find their way into Daenerys Targaryen's lap. But instead of aliens and dragons, the line was inspired by the cultural heritage of Peru, which often seems very mystical and ancient to Westerners.

Prehistoric Aliens by Glimpt is the result of spending the autumn of 2012 in the country working with Crafts Cooperative, Artesanos Don Bosco. A continuation of the studio's work with craftsmen and women from different countries, the products came from their desire to help them develop a more modern series of furniture.
