Explosively Protruding Sculptures

The Points of Contention Installation is Ground-Breaking

Created by artist Jonathan Latiano, the Points of Contention installation appears to explode out of the wooden panels in the floor of the gallery.

With the use of reclaimed materials such as shards of wood, plastic tubing, Styrofoam as well as site-grown salt rocks that were all spray painted with a coat of white paint, the artist created a dynamic sculpture that protrudes violently and dramatically from the ground. Exploring how today's controversies shape the future, the artist actually manipulated the wooden floor to bend and curve as though it is responding to a really a slow-motion explosion, demonstrating the eventual acquiescence of society to powerful moving forces.

Jonathan Latiano uses his Points of Contention installation as a way to express the inevitability of drastic change that stems from conflict.
