Upcycled Plastic Placemats

These Unique Placemat Designs Were Formed from Plastic Bags

A group of women weavers, ''Ayllu Ruwasuchins,'' used the "PLARN" (Plastic Bag Yarn) technique to create an original collection of 34 sets of placemat designs. Each set was made with 10 plastic bags, with all production happening in Manchay, Lima, Perú.

This sustainable project was created for the L.O.O.P. Peruvian social enterprise to inspire consumers to take actions that have positive environmental impacts through responsible consumption and citizen campaigns. It focuses on the impacts of plastic pollution on the marine ecosystem, promoting the use of alternative products to disposable plastics.

The project works to promote the personal development of knitters, as well as creativity and awareness in communities about the impact of the plastic in our lifestyles and homes.
