Corrugated Box Redesigns

The Student-Designed Perfect Cardboard Box Eliminates the Use of Tape

Dubbed 'the perfect cardboard box' by Fast Co. Design, the Rapid Packing Container recreates an everyday staple. Conceived by Henry Wang and Chris Curro of the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at Cooper Union, the cardboard box redesign addresses the environmental problem created by conventional boxes. The Rapid Packing Container is also intended to make packing an easier and more timely task.

To build, just press on the flat, unfolded box into a custom jig. A built-in adhesive strip means additional tape is not needed. A tab allows you to open the box with ease.

The innovative design uses 15% to 20% less cardboard than regular boxes. This is sure to have a very positive effect on the environment, when one considers how many boxes are used to ship goods worldwide. The reversible, recyclable and seemingly perfect cardboard box also cuts down on material costs, despite being able to hold up to 260 pounds.
