Undulating Ceiling Installations

Paper Chandeliers by Cristina Parreno Architecture is Spectacular

The Paper Chandeliers installation converts the ceiling of a gallery into an undulating form reminiscent of some undiscovered Antarctic cave. As its name suggests, it is made entirely of paper tubes that drip down at varying lengths. Creating a dynamic space, the Paper Chandeliers installation "articulates the spatial environment mediating between the art installation and the architectural project," as written by the designers.

Created by Cristina Parreño Architecture, the Paper Chandeliers installation was chosen to be built for the yearly International Art Fair ARCO Madrid 2013. It was designed in collaboration with an MIT team consisting of James Coleman, Sharon Xu, Koharu Usui, Natthida Wiwatwicha and Hannah Ahlblad. The final product offers a spectacular luminous sight.
