The Paola Pivi 'How I Roll' is a huge sculptural feat as the twin-engine plane rotates in the center of Doris C. Freedman Plaza in Central Park. The kinetic sculpture was created by the Italian Anchorage, Alaska-based multimedia artist Paola Pivi with the help of the New York Public Art Fund. The organization works to exhibit artwork outside the traditionally expected galleries and museums and onto the street.
As stated on the NYC-Arts website, Pivi is known for the "recontextualization of familiar subjects, objects and places, [and] Paola Pivi’s work creates surprising and enigmatic situations that challenge viewers’ perceptions." The placement of this incredibly captivating rotating Piper Seneca in busy Manhattan streets is no different.
