Mondelēz International is Removing Plastic Trays from Candy Boxes

Announced as part of the Mondelēz International 'Pack Light and Pack Right' strategy, the brand will be reducing its use of plastic across several of its Christmas candy selection boxes in a bid to make its festive products more eco-focused.

The packaging change will be observed across the Cadbury, Bournville and Toblerone boxes, and will work to eliminate 1.1 million plastic trays from being used this holiday season. The change is being promoted by the brand in a bid to help consumers more easily dispose of the packaging once used.

UK Managing Director at Mondelēz International Louise Stigant spoke on the packaging change saying, "Reducing the amount of packaging we put into the world, and making it easier for consumers to recycle our products, is vitally important to us. The steps we are taking on our adult selection boxes, which follow the recent packaging reduction on our Cadbury large share bags, is an example of the varied approaches we are taking to tackle the shared problem of packaging waste."
