High-Performance Flash Drives

The SanDisk Optimus Max Packs 4 Terabytes of Storage

The SanDisk Optimus MAX solid state drive is the first solid state drive of its size (2.5 inches) to pack 4 Terabytes of storage capacity. The Optimus MAX makes light of the notion that flash-based solid state drives are inferior to platter-based hard disk drives in terms of storage capacity.

SanDisk claims that the Optimus MAX boasts sequential read/write speeds of 400/400 Megabytes per second, and read/write speeds of up to 75,000/15,000 Input/Output Operations Per Second.

The Optimus Max is targeted towards read-intensive computer applications with heavy workloads. This includes applications such as media streaming, web servers, video on demand, web-based application and data warehousing projects.

SanDisk hasn't yet revealed pricing details for the Optimus Max, but claims that the Optimus Max offers cost-effective performance while consuming less power than traditional hard disk drives.
