Indian Nightscape Photography

This Photo Series Captures Silent Nightscapes of Urban India

Gavin Evans' photo series captures the silent and eerie nightscapes of urban Indian locales. During the day, India's big cities bustle with millions of people and vehicles, noise and activity. At night-time however, these cities' streets take on an abandoned sort of character that isn't nearly as often captured on camera.

Evans spent three months photographing night-time street scenes in the capital city New Delhi, the Eastern city of Kolkata, famed tea-producing town Darjeeling and the desert state of Rajasthan.

Evans took his nightscape photographs using a new Sony Alpha A7 camera, which is known to work particularly well in low light conditions. The end result is a photo series that effectively reveals the hours of eerie silence and inactivity that punctuate the hustle and bustle of Indian life.
