Shoepod Packaging

Molded Pulp Carton Mimics Nature's Containers

Boulder, Colorado-based Newton Running produces shoes with a low environmental impact, so it makes sense that the company would also want to make environmentally sustainable packaging to ship them in.

Taking a cue from nature,TDA Advertising and Design Newton developed a shoe pea-pod of recycled-pulp with some bamboo fiber added. There is a lip for the rubber-band-secured lid to snap closed. The molded shape of the carton fits the shoes, allows for stacking and eliminates the need for additional packing materials.

Rather than stuffing the shoe insides with paper, the company includes a pair of socks in one shoe and a reusable shoe bag in the other.
