The New Gypsies by Iain McKell Show an Alternative Lifestyle

Iain McKell, the photographer who shot Kate Moss for V magazine in 2009 as one of the new gypsies, has published his latest book entitled The New Gypsies.

The book consists of a series of beautifully shot, realistic, raw photos about the life of a small group of new-ages nomads. McKell has been documenting the life of these new gypsies for a decade. They travel on antiquated caravans carried by horses, use solar panels and are surprisingly young. These neo-nomads represent an eco-friendly, hassle-free lifestyle that is in sharp contrast with the daily urban living of metropolitan North America. As the photographer puts it, "The New Gypsies do not share a common ethnological origin, a spirituality, or political stand. They share an ideal that a different way of living is possible."
