The Museum of Shit is an extremely unique and niche experience that aims to provide a documented history of excrement. Located in the village of Castelbosco approximately 70-kilometers south of Milan, the Museum of Shit (or Museo della Merda) is merely the 220,000-pounds of excrement the farm's dairy cows produce each day.
Founded by Italian dairy farmer Gianantonio Locatelli, the Museum of Shit, or the Museo Della Merda, literally came to exist naturally, as cultivating the excrement as a means of extracting fertilizer is a regular daily occurrence for him.
Said to be inspired by the "conceptual complexity" of the cultural history of excrement, Locatelli has officially opened the Museum of Shit on weekends between May and August by appointment only.
