Friday Night Throwdown aka Model Boxing is an old sport with a new twist--handsome or "pretty boy" male models. These underground fights take place in a Manhattan warehouse and aren’t disclosed until close to fight time. Invites to the fights are by word of mouth or by a quick Facebook notice, which is posted for a few minutes and then taken down.
Of course, the extraordinary part of this Fight Club is the male model fighters, but don’t let that fool you. These are real fights that make strutting down a runway look super-badass. Participants usually have to learn the hard way by first losing, and then they get serious by training regularly.
Friday Night Throwdown uses a regulation ring along with a referee, a bell, an announcer and female model round announcers. Most attendees are in the modeling business or professional photographers. The fighters usually start off by winning $150 per fight; however, if they put on a good show and have talent they will be asked back. Friday Night Throwdown is not that surprising when you consider Brad Pitt's role in Fight Club--he's quite the good-looking young man.
