The Mirror 2.0 Tailors Our Private Bathroom Experience

Since men spend an average of one hour and 45 minutes—compared to 85 minutes for women—in the bathroom each week, it’s only logical that we have something to look at, making the Mirror 2.0 a smart bathroom fixture.

Designed by Rober Grynkofki and an entry in the Reece 2013 Bathroom Innovation Award, the mirror uses voice command and a face and gesture recognition system to give users a personalized bathroom experience. The Mirror 2.0 has two LCD displays behind a one-way mirror, with two sensors for motion and voice control.

By connecting a smartphone or accessing the Internet, the Mirror 2.0 can detect the user’s bathroom experience and tailor it according to certain routines, such as playing music while taking a shower or putting a movie on for those longer bathroom trips. The device can also display news and weather updates, display an e-book, moderate the temperature in the room and dim the lights.
