Rod Penner's Miniature Painting Series Shows Small Town Life

This hyperrealistic miniature painting series by artist Rod Penner showcases small town life in Texas. Each picture is a mere 6 inches by 6 inches and captures a specific location in Texas Hills Country. The images are so real looking, it is difficult to imagine they aren't photographs.

To capture this level of detail, Penner begins every piece by taking shots of the location, ideally at dawn so there are less people and vehicles obstructing his view. From there he painstakingly documents the image using videos and sketches before the final painting is completed.

Penner's miniature painting series recently exhibited at Ameringer McEnery Yohe gallery in New York City. Its run just ended on November 23rd.
