Memphis Roller Derby Calendar 2008

Who says beauty can't be rough? As a newcomer sport in town, the Memphis Roller Derby approached Archer/Malmo ad agency to come up with creative ways to raise their profile and promote their teams.

The result was a pinup-style calendar representing the essence and dynamics of the roller derby with its fusion of beauty and athleticism. In order to communicate this sexiness and grit, the photography by Tony Pearce featured heavily airbrushed female players in classic Bettie Page-style pinup poses with bruises, fresh cuts and black marks from the rough play.

Nicely done job by archer/malmo ad agency, Memphis, USA with creative director Gary Backaus, art director Amanda Casabella and airbrushing by Natalia Weedy.
