The Memphis Apple Store was designed with the next-generation in mind. It's a stunning space that surprises in a few ways. First, it doesn't have any logo on its front facade. Considering how minimalist the Apple logo already is, that is an interesting move. Secondly, it has a massive 37-foot TV display -- rumored to have cost $1.5 million -- that rests at the back, tying everything together.
Designed by retail chief Angela Ahrendts and CDO Jony Ive, the Memphis Apple Store also has a patented high-flung ceiling outfitted with light panels and recessed spotlights that illuminate product display tables below, which are arranged to maximize floorspace and achieve a sense of openness. The tables themselves have been updated with motion sensors operating a motorized flip-up panel hiding electrical outlets and USB ports.
