Moping Minimalist Lights

Geert Koster's Mate Floor Lamp Looks like It's Slouching Sadly

I blame IKEA commercials for personifying pieces of furniture so much so that when I look at the Mate Floor Lamp, I can see it moping around in sadness. I mean, it's hulking, slouched presence does give it an endearingly sad look, don't you think?

Designed by Dutch designer Geert Koster for the manufacturer Metalarte, the Mate Floor Lamp does more than inspire my empathy, however. It is a minimalist lighting fixture that would fit into virtually any living space with ease. Not only that, but it also features an interesting yet subtle protrusion near its base that comes in handy for hanging items such as its own cord.

Overall, I really like the Mate Floor Lamp and it is definitely a piece that will keep its users happy, despite its sulking appearance.
