Reptile Monk Renderings

Malachi Maloney Paints the Ninja Turtles in Buddhist Garbs

Many artists are putting a realistic and gritty spin on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles through beautifully rendered fan art, and Malachi Maloney is one of those many artists. However, his interpretation of the popular ‘90s crime fighters differs greatly from past incarnations as he injects much more Asian influences into each turtle.

Looking at Malachi Maloney’s work, you can instantly identify that Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo have martial arts training of Japanese origin. It’s apparently from their attire and their weapons. Interestingly, Maloney adorns two of the turtles with monk-like garbs rather than the popular black stealth suits that people are accustomed to seeing when they think of ninjas. Another visual aspect distinct to Maloney’s illustrations is that he paints the turtles with very human-like arms, which is conceptually impressive, but somewhat eerie to look at.
