Alpine Summit Refuge Cabins

The 'Bivacco Luca Vuerich' Cabin is Named After the Late Climber

If you ever feel the need to go somewhere where almost no one can find you, look no further; Italian architect has constructed Bivacco Luca Vuerich, a cabin that is located at the crest of the Foronon Buinz mountains in the Julian Alps of Italy.

Situated 2,531 meters above sea level, the oddly located cabin is a modular wooden structure and is named after the late climber, Luca Vuerich, who was caught in an avalanche three years ago.

The cabin is situated along a summit trail and contains nine beds for hikers, visitors and climbers alike to take refuge or rest. The resting house is composed of 30 prefabricated wooden panels, "three trusses, and a larch-wood floor structure." The structure rests on six short concrete pillars set against the rocky mountain landscape.
