Waste-Reducing Meal Boxes

Flashfood's Low-Cost Meal Boxes Divert Food Waste from Landfills

As both food waste and access to healthy, affordable food are issues that affect hundreds of thousands of consumers, Flashfood has devised a low-cost meal box that also helps to divert food from ending up in the landfill.

In collaboration with Tyson, Flashfood is now launching a pilot program that shares food that is still perfectly edible—but for one reason another, deemed unfit for sale in supermarkets. One reason that a significant amount of produce ends up going to waste is the fact that it is simply unattractive or irregular in shape.

Flashfood packs its 15-pound meal boxes with fruits, vegetables and sources of protein, making it easy for consumers to get about 14 low-cost meals out of a single box for just $45.
