Sign Language-Converting Gloves

Language of Glove is a Low-Cost Alternative to Similar Innovations

The Language of Glove was created by engineers at the University of California, San Diego, and is able to convert American Sign Language letters into text.

While similar devices exist in other forms, the Language of Glove is a low-cost alternative to those. It was made with less than $100 worth of materials and is made from "stretchable and printable electronics that are inexpensive, commercially available and easy to assemble."

The glove is able to convert the 26 letters found in American Sign Language into text using a smartphone or a computer, and it was created with the intended purpose of one day being functional in virtual reality – as its gesture recognition features are "much more intuitive than using a joystick and other existing controllers."
