The Klout Update Promises Scores More Reflective of Reality

Klout is an app that measures one's influence across all social media platforms. It takes Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Wikipedia, Foursquare and other platforms into consideration when considering your score.

The changes made to the influence-gauging algorithm is that it considers 4 times more input variables than before. Klout had previously been tight-lipped as to how the score has been generated, but the update makes things more clear. They report that the platform takes into consideration Facebook likes, comments and tags as well as Twitter retweets and mentions -- things that start discussion and are indicative of engagement.

As an example of how things have changed, Barack Obama's score has been updated from 94 to 99 and Justin Beiber has been demoted from a 99 to a 92.
